Hospital information system. My part was the API layer behind patient medical records, where the shape of the query decided everything.

The problem

Medical records grow without bound and get read constantly. An unnormalized schema turns routine lookups into full-table scans, and the records themselves are sensitive enough that the API cannot be casual about them.

What I did

• Implemented secure RESTful APIs for patient medical records.
• Normalized the MySQL schema, cutting query response time 35% across 100,000+ entries.
• Raised throughput 40% on the record access paths.
• Paired with senior engineers on backend-to-frontend integration so features shipped 25% faster.
